We are delighted to have learned that we will be one of the Lintot Sq Coop's three community projects - chosen by staff - to get funding during 2019-2020.
When Coop members buy (selected) Coop products the Coop donates 1% to local causes. This has resulted in tens of thousands of pounds being handed back to Southwater charities since the scheme started.

For 2019/20 the three projects are:

  • The Youth Project

  • Castlewood School

  • Community First Responders

If you are a Coop member you now need to log in to your account and select the cause you would like to support.

If you use the Lintot Sq Coop regularly but aren't already a member you should consider becoming one as you will: receive a 5% rebate into your membership account on most spend, get special offers promotions and discounts, and be able to contribute 1% to local causes.
Funding Southwater Community Responders receive this year is likely to go towards:
Replacing some soon to be out-of-date defibs
Providing kit for new team members
Increasing our range of training aids and materials.
All of which helps us save lives, and promote well-being & recovery by providing greater levels of emergency care in the village.

A huge thank you to the store staff for selecting us, it makes a world of difference!

October 2019 - New Team Member

September 2019 - CFR's Join GoodSAM

The Southwater Community First Responders Team  have now joined the GoodSAM app, which gives them the ability to respond to Cardiac Arrests when they are off duty.

What is good SAM?

Operating Internationally, GoodSAM (Smartphone Activated Medics) incorporates the world's most advanced emergency alerting and dispatching platform with a community of highly governed trained and trusted responders. The GoodSAM Cardiac system integrates with ambulance service CAD (computer aided dispatch) systems to trigger bystander response while the ambulance service is on route. GoodSAMPro provides a Community First Responder (CFR) dispatch system dispatching advanced care beyond cardiac arrest.

The Southwater Community First Responders Team was pleased to have a stall at the Southwater Schools Summer Fair on 2nd July, We where able to hand out our latest print of the Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADS) to ensure that more  Southwater residents are aware of the location of their nearest defibrillator. We where also very pleased to be able to demonstrate to young and old alike CPR, the use of a Defibrillator and the recovery position. This event is a great opportunity for  the Southwater Community First Responders to meet patient and also raise awareness of its activities along with raising funds to continue to be able to supply our Voluntary Service's to the local community.

January 2019 - Hen & Chicken Defibrillator

Thank you very much to Chris Marks, Landlord at The Hen & Chick for letting us place the PAD on the pub wall and for providing the electricity supply the cabinet needs. The electric supply is required for a small thermostatically controlled heater that ensures the AED pads don't get so cold that the adhesive used to stick them to a patients body becomes unusable.

The PAD cabinet was installed by CBS Electrical Contractors - thank you Chris and co. The cabinet and AED have been provided by local company Trimbio and paid for by Southwater Community Responders from the fundraising we have done in the village - thank you everyone who has contributed.

Future PADS are likely to be located at the Church Rooms next to Holy Innocents and at the new Sports & Social Centre when it opens. We will be running a number of AED and CPR awareness sessions over the coming months so people can have the knowledge and confidence to use the PADs if necessary.
